Replacing the fabric on your broom can cost next to nothing and after a couple times will only take a couple minutes of work. This is especially useful to do once or twice a year to all your club brooms; keeping the ice clean and saving the club hundreds of dollars. Below is the materials list with links to our sources, a link to a downloadable instruction sheet, and a slideshow of the process with instructions. Let us know if you have any questions or comments. We would love to hear from you. ![]()

I've replaced the fabric very similar to what you have posted here. However, I'm still trying to figure out if the shiny side of the fabric goes agains the ice or is the dull side.

A standard T-50 stapler cannot handle sinking the staple into the plastic base. If you don't have access to an industrial strength upholstery stapler, I would suggest getting your hands on a heavy-duty office stapler that can handle 100-200 sheets of paper (ours is a used Swingline 39005--it works great!). It isn't about the instant power, it's about sinking the staple in. Also, make sure to get the 1/4" heavy-duty staples made for that stapler (longer will poke out through the other side).

Does someone at your club have a small piece of fabric, enough for one broom, that they would sell me? I don't want to buy a full yard, would end up throwing most of it away.

Thanks for the guide! But please, remove the electric stapler link. I tried it and agree with the comment above — they don’t sink the staple in all the way. A manual heavy-duty stapler worked great.
